Be A Teacher
About The Program
The Professional Development Program (PDP) at Simon Fraser University is an established teacher education program with a distinguished reputation. Within PDP, members of faculty, seconded school district personnel and classroom teachers work together to deliver the highest quality educational experiences for student teachers.
PDP is dedicated to the development of outstanding teachers—ethically responsible, competent professionals who are committed to preparing children to live as decent, informed, knowledgeable participants in a democratic and pluralistic society.
The goals for PDP do not include all the competencies of effective teachers. They do, however, represent those professional characteristics that we in this faculty consider to be very important. Professional development experiences in the program, both on campus and in the field, are organized around the promotion of these goals. The goals also represent the criteria upon which students' work will be evaluated.
