Associate Professor

Philosophy of Education

 

 

Heesoon Bai is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Canada. She has published widely in academic journals and edited volumes on topics including directions for philosophy of education, teacher education, ecology and environmental education, social responsibility and moral agency, and art education and zen aesthetics. She is a recipient of the 2008 Mentorship Award conferred by the Canadian Committee for Graduate Students in Education (CCGSE), and a recipient of the Simon Fraser University Excellence in Teaching Award in 2003. In 2003, she also received the Roger Hamill Environmental Educator’s Award. Professor Bai is active in the renewal and revitalization of Philosophy of Education in Canada and elsewhere. She is the Editor of Paideusis, Journal of Canadian Philosophy of Education Society. She is also a Faculty Associate in the Graduate Liberal Studies Program. Currently, she is serving a term as the Director of Graduate Programs in SFU’s Faculty of Education. As well, she coordinates a new doctoral program in Philosophy of Education.
