- Purpose: to mobilize Canada's research talent and apply it to the task of developing the economy and improving the quality of life of Canadians. The four priority areas are: environmental science and technologies, natural resources and energy, health and related life sciences and technologies, and information and communication technologies

CIHR Operating Grant: Intervention Research

 

Purpose: to support the prompt initiation of intervention and evaluation research on rapidly unfolding programs, events, and/or policy initiatives/changes with the potential to impact healthy living and/or chronic disease prevention at the population level. Note that for the purpose of this document, "population-level" encapsulates any defined group of individuals sharing some set of characteristics in common. Communities, workplaces, schools and ethnic groups would all be considered examples of "populations". This funding opportunity strongly encourages close collaboration between program implementers and researchers but it will not support situations where the implementer and the researcher are the same person/ entity. The program must be outside of the control of the researcher to be considered for this opportunity.

CIHR Partnerships for Health System Improvement

Purpose: to support teams of researchers and decision makers interested in conducting applied and policy-relevant health research that is useful to health system managers and/or policy makers and strengthens the Canadian health care system. Successful applicant teams will conduct health services, health systems and policy research projects of up to three years in length in policy-relevant areas deemed to be of priority by Canada's health system decision makers.
Amount: Up to $400,000 over three years; partner funding required
