This area highlights ongoing research in the Faculty, including information on individual faculty research interests,
project profiles for specific research projects, and links to research institutes and centres housed within the Faculty,
Many of our researchers maintain active research partnerships with school districts, community groups, and
other agencies, as can be seen by looking through the faculty and research profiles.
On this site, you’ll also find information on upcoming research-related events on campus, around town,
and beyond, as well as research funding opportunities. Members of the SU Faculty of Education are very
active in the research community, with high participation rates in major educational conferences such as AERA
and CSSE (Congress), as well as more specialized conferences targeted at specific sub-fields of educational
research.
Our faculty members have been successful in securing funding from a wide range of agencies. In recent years,
members of this Faculty have received funding from major national and provincial granting agencies such as
SSHRC, CIHR, NSERC, The Canada Foundation for Innovation, CIDA, and a range of Canadian provincial and
federal government ministries and departments. In addition SFU Education researchers also have also been
awarded funding from other public and private sources, such as le Centre canadien de recherche sur les
francophonies en milieu minoritaire (CRFM) de l'Institut français ( Université de Regina) and The Spencer
Foundation (USA).
All visitors to this site can find information on ongoing research in the Faculty using the navigation links on the left.
Faculty members can also log in to the Faculty Research Resources area to access additional resources,
such as sample grant applications, a list of research partnerships, and information on funding trends in the Faculty
over time.
This site is maintained by the Educational Research Office, which provides grants facilitation support to help faculty
identify appropriate funding agencies and develop targeted research proposals and budgets to match specific
opportunities. Our friendly Grants Facilitators, who also maintain their own active research programs,
are happy to meet with any faculty member to discuss prospective funding opportunities, review drafts, etc.
