My research interests are in holistic and aesthetic education as well as indigenous education. My focus is on: indigenous knowledge and epistemologies, indigenous language and culture revitalization, holistic learning, the integration of the arts in education, art therapy, transformative education, and spirituality in education. I am also interested in arts-based narrative and arts-informed research methodologies.

Note: Eurythmy is an integrative art of movement that incorporates elements of music and drama. As an art form it endeavors to make visible musical tone and the spoken word. Eurythmy is a performing art in its own right and is taught as a subject in Waldorf Schools, Camphill Schools and Villages. It is also used in medial practices and clinics as an integrative arts therapy.

I choreographed and directed three separate children’s performances for the students, teachers and parents. One of which involved performances of each of the grades from 1-8.

1991: Dubach Eurythmy Ensemble: Dornach, Switzerland.

Over a two year period I was involved in a group reviving and performing Dubach’s “Evolution” choreography in England, Ireland, Finland, Germany, and Switzerland. We also performed at an International Kindergarten Teachers Conference as well as an International Special Education Conference held in Switzerland.

1990: Eurythmy Ensemble: Husemann Clinic: Buchenbach Germany.

Performed with eurythmy colleagues for the psychiatric patients of the clinic a program which included: “The Wonders of the Spring” fairy tale, poetry as well as music by Bach, and Beethoven.

1989: Eurythmy Ensemble: Therapeuticum Bern Switzerland.

Performed regularly with colleagues of the medical practice at festivals for the patients.

1988: Ashdown Eurythmy Ensemble Tour: Vidarasen, Norway.

I promoted and hosted their children and adult performances during their extensive international tour.

1987: Performed various Village Festivals: Vidarasen, Norway

Directed, choreographed and performed in a eurythmy ensemble. The program included Norwegian poetry and music.

1987: Vidarasen Villager Performing Group: Vidarasen, Norway.

I choreographed and directed a large performance of “The Seven Stallions” a Norwegian fairy tale for the opening of the Great Hall in Vidarasen. Co-workers and handicapped villagers performed for the community and the nearby Trondheim Waldorf School.

1986: International Camphill Conference: Vidarasen Landsby, Andebu, Norway.

As a member of The Ringwood- Botton Eurythmy Stage Group I performed a program that included: Norse Myths, a Beethoven Trio and Variations as well as poetry by Keats.

1985: Ringwood- Botton Stage group: Botton Village, England

I toured for one month in England, Scotland and Ireland. The program also included: “The Pictures From an Exhibition” by Mussorgsky, “The Fairy Rowan Tree” from The King of Irelands Son, as well as other poetry and music.

1985: A Student Eurythmy Group: The Pennine Community, Wakefield, England.

In a Camphill School for mentally and physically challenged adolescents I choreographed and directed performances of “The Master Builder” by Eileen Hutchins.

1984: Ringwood-Botton Stage Group: Botton Village, England.

I toured on weekends offering children performances of music and the fairy tale: “The Rowan Tree” from “The King of Irelands Son”. The adult performances offered a selection of dramatic pieces, poetry and music.

1983: Ringwood-Botton Student Stage Group: Botton Village, England.

A month long graduation tour performing a fairy tale: The Seven Ravens from “The King of Ireland’s Son” as well as music by Beethoven, Mozart, Handel and Schumann and various poems and dramatic pieces in English, French and German.

1982: International Camphill Communities Conference: Aberdeen, Scotland.

I performed in a production of: the fairy tale by Goethe: “The New Paris”, as well as music from “Iphigenia in Aulis” by Gluck.

Curriculum Materials

1991-1998

I developed an integrative arts curriculum for grades 2-8 in which the main focus was on movement and drama. I also developed the Eurythmy Curriculum for the Toronto Waldorf School.
