Re-Entry & Re-Admission

Only students who interrupt or withdraw from Education 404 or Education 405 may apply, by the deadline, to re-enter the PDP. Students who withdraw from Education 401/2 must apply by the deadlines for re-admission to the PDP. Students who withdraw from Education 406 (HEART) must re-apply by the deadlines for admission to HEART after meeting re-admission requirements.

Although every effort is made to accommodate students who wish to re-enter the program in the semester of their choice, this cannot be guaranteed. Factors such as space available for re-admitted students, as well as the total number of applicants in any given semester, inevitably influence the possibility of re-admission even for qualified candidates.

Requirements for Re-Entry to PDP may include one or more of the following:

  1. The student may need to show documentation of new observation and/or volunteer experience working in educational/instructional contexts.
  2. The student may need to show completion of required coursework.
  3. The student may be required to complete specific tasks involving reading, writing, reflection, planning and/or instruction.
  4. The student may be required to wait up to two years, until professional/personal development has been undertaken relevant to the circumstances of withdrawal.
  5. The student may be required to have an interview with the Re-Entry Committee or, in the case of an External site, with the Coordinator.

A student who re-enters the PDP is required to repeat the semester in which the withdrawal occurred. Students who withdraw from the program for the second time may not be considered for re-entry to the program.

Re-Entry to Education 404, 405

Students who have withdrawn from Education 404 & 405 must be successful in the application to be re-admitted within 2 years after interrupting or withdrawing from the PDP. Deadlines for re-entry into Education 405 and 406 are October 15 for Spring semester and April 15 for the Fall semester, and 6 weeks prior to the beginning of the semester they wish to re-enter Education 404. Students may not apply for re-entry to Education 405 in the same semester they withdraw (i.e. students who withdraw from 405 early in the Fall semester are not eligible to apply that October for re-entry the following January. Similarly, students who withdraw from 405 in the Spring semester are not eligible to apply in April for re-entry the following September). As part of their application to re-enter 405, students must submit (by the deadlines indicated above) supporting data which demonstrates that all re-entry conditions have been met.

Re-Admission to Education 401/2

Students who interrupt or withdraw from the program before completing Education 401/2 must re-apply for admission to the PDP. While their applications are subject to the same criteria for admission as all other candidates, the Admissions Committee may also consider any available information about a student's performance during the time s/he was enrolled in the program. A previous admission does not imply any right to re-admission.
