Elementary LevelYou are eligible to apply after you successfully complete a minimum of 76 semester hours of courses acceptable for credit at Simon Fraser University, including the following prerequisite courses:
To help you with your selection, we have provided a chart of acceptable courses offered by Simon Fraser University and other B.C. post-secondary level institutions, that will satisfy our prerequisites. Applicants who have not completed the above requirements by the application deadline will not be considered.
*French literature and composition may be substituted for applicants to the French language PDP, however this option may prohibit completing a B.Ed as a second degree within PDP. Secondary LevelYou must fulfill your degree requirements (minimum four years), including a teachable major subject or two teachable minor subjects, plus 6 credits of English (minimum of 3 credits of English Literature). You can apply while these courses are in progress, however students from other institutions must complete their degree one full semester before beginning PDP. Simon Fraser students must have completed their degree requirements before beginning PDP. The only exception to this would be a Simon Fraser University Bachelor of Education applicant who requires PDP to complete his or her degree. All applicants must complete the English requirement at least one full semester before beginning PDP.
Teachable subjects are those widely taught within the BC Public School system. Examples are: English, World Literature, History**, Geography**, Mathematics, Biological Sciences, Earth Science, Chemistry, Physics, French, Music and Art. Additional areas are available within PDP, but must be combined with another teachable area: Theater, Dance, Computing Science, Humanities*, Canadian Studies*, Physical Education.
Fine & Performing Arts are only available in the September intake.
