The Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University is pleased to announce the launch of a new television program, Your Education Matters. The new show, which will go to air on January 21, 2008, 6:30 – 7:00 pm on Shaw TV Channel 4, is produced by the Faculty of Education and will be the only television program in BC dedicated to addressing education issues beyond the headlines.
“We have created this program to provide insights and opinions from practitioners and scholars on education issues that matter for parents, students, educators and policy makers alike,” said Dr. Paul Shaker who will host the new program. “Our guests are people who know the key issues and who can help our viewers be prepared to actively participate in making the education experience a successful one for learners today and in the future.”
During his term as Dean of Education at SFU, Shaker has been prominently figured in media and in public forums advocating for dialogue on education issues. Shaker wants to hear comments and feedback from viewers as well. “This is something for the general public as well as educators,” he explained. “It’s a way for all groups who care about education to connect and share their insights so that we can work together to ensure quality public education.”
Your Education Matters will air a new episode with a new topic monthly and rebroadcasts three times a week:
Mondays: 6:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Sundays: 9:00 am - 9:30 am
Sundays: 7:00 pm - 7:30 pm
