Monday, February 27 The Faculty of Education showcased their programs at SFU Surrey’s fourth annual open house. The well-attended event in February encouraged prospective students to interact with faculty and staff from undergraduate, PDP and graduate programs. The informal and energetic event was in keeping with the intimate environment at SFU’s Surrey Campus and what the Faculty of Education offers in their programs, which feature small class sizes and a supportive atmosphere.
“Our presence at the Open House reflects our commitment to building partnerships with our education colleagues south of the Fraser River,” said Colin Chow, Program Coordinator, Professional Development Program, Faculty of Education. These partnerships include the work done by Fred Renihan, former superintendent of the Surrey School District, who is coordinating the development of a Master of Education and PhD program for teachers in Surrey and neighbouring areas.
Dr. David Paterson highlighted the benefits and unique aspects of the Counselling Psychology program, which is new to the Surrey campus this year. Dr. Kevin O’Neill gave an overview of the Master’s in Educational Technology & Learning Design program, which was designed from scratch to be offered exclusively at the Surrey campus. Visit the Counselling Psychology and Educational Technology websites for more information on those programs. |
