Mrs. Edna Anderson receives an honorary PDP certificate from Dr. Paul Shaker, Dean of Education, SFU.
Mrs. Edna Anderson has been regarded by her community as a teacher to the New Westminster children for many years. Though circumstances had kept her from pursuing a teaching career, on December 11, 2006, Mrs. Anderson received an honourary PDP certificate from the Faculty of Education at SFU during a graduation ceremony for teacher candidates.
“As a historian, poet, writer, musician, collector, and archivist, Mrs. Anderson has demonstrated her love for educating others, and she has exhibited the qualities of a fine teacher,” said Dr. Paul Shaker, Dean of Education at SFU.
Mrs. Anderson has been recognized as a poet laureate for the City of New Westminster and a Citizen of the Year. In addition, she has been recognized with the Governor General’s Millennium Medal, and the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, which is awarded to Canadians who have made outstanding and exemplary contributions to their communities or to Canada as a whole. |
