The Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University will be offering a new international Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction, sponsored by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), beginning Fall 2006.

During the two-year program, students from Thailand, Laos and Cambodia will spend four semesters studying in their country with face-to-face and online support from SFU faculty and local mentors. Students will also take part in an 8-week residential program at the SFU Burnaby campus during the 2007 summer semester to expose them to a new culture and attend a special topics course that explores continuing studies, the focus of the CIDA project. The primary objective of the CIDA project is to encourage life-long learning in the countries participating in this project.

The MEd in Curriculum and Instruction program is designed to provide participants an opportunity to research current issues, theories, and policies connected to the contemporary education scene. Fieldwork courses and comprehensive examinations will require participants to undertake action research projects to examine curriculum and instruction in their own institutions.
