New course for successful transition to university

Dr. Carolyn Mamchur

Following the success of the new Foundations of Academic Literacy program offered through the Faculty of Education, a special topic has been added to the January course offerings.

"The EDUC 298 - Personal and Professional Satisfaction: Foundations of successful learning and living at SFU is a three-credit course especially designed to introduce students with grace and dignity and assurance into the wonderful, but sometimes mysterious and frightening world of academia," said education professor, Carolyn Mamchur, who is spearheading this new program.

The course offers students the opportunity to expand their knowledge of their own personal learning style, increase their ability to write in the expressive and narrative modes, and further their understanding of the demands of other disciplines.

This EDUC 298 course is most suitable for new SFU students who want to orient themselves and learn specific skills and attitudes that will encourage a successful transition to university life.
