The Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University hit the road May 1 – 3 to honour close ties with communities in Prince George, Kamloops, and Kelowna. Educators, alumni and administrators attended the afternoon forums hosted by the dean of education, Paul Shaker, to hear about new programs and celebrate 40 years of teacher education at SFU.

The Faculty of Education’s institutional relationship with the Interior dates back to the early 1970s. Since then, nearly 2,000 teachers have graduated from its Professional Development Programs, and Graduate Programs has offered several masters and doctoral degrees throughout the region.

The Faculty of Education will continue to foster strong relations with the Interior through new programs such as the MEd in Educational Practices that Field Programs will introduce in Prince George next fall.
