Dr. Klaus Klein, Director, Health Education Research Unit, University of Cologne, Germany believes that the importance of schools, teacher training, curricula, community, and culture which help individuals take their health and wellness into their own hands cannot be any more evident than in the current and future healthcare systems in Europe.
Healthcare in Europe has always offered innovative perspectives for individual and community focused approaches to well-being. Dr. Klein will provide a brief historical overview of health practices linking Germany’s current health situation, while exploring future links between healthcare and education systems.
Dr. Klein is a renowned researcher in the field of school health education and has authored 30 books and more than 300 publications. As an esteemed researcher on both national and international stages, he has helped attract more than $10 million dollars in outside research funding. He is chairman of the Society for Health Environment and Communication, and at the University of Cologne, he is a member of the School of Science, Department of Science Education in Mathematics and Natural Science, the Institute for Biology and Didactics/Human Biology Group Health and Environmental Education, and an affiliate to the School of Education.
The First International Health Education Dialogue is hosted by the Health Education and Physical Activity (HEPA) Masters Program. This event is part of the “Education Matters Lecture Series” sponsored by the SFU Faculty of Education.
