EGSA launches the new SFU Educational ReviewMarch 14 , 2007
If the collaborative work of graduate students in the Faculty of Education at SFU is an indication of what the next generation of scholars and researchers envision for the future, then the future holds much promise for the crossing and blurring of boundaries, inter-displinarity, community-building and outreach.
On March 21st the Education Graduate Students Association (EGSA) will be launching the inaugural issue of the SFU Educational Review, a peer-reviewed and peer-edited selection of work presented at the EGSA's annual Education With/Out Borders Symposium. In the spirit of removing educational borders, it is the intention of the SFU Ed Review to encourage and nurture alternative ideas in teaching, learning, research and scholarship, to foster greater inclusivity and to provide a space for different forms and genres not usually found in more traditional scholarly journals.
The SFU Ed Review also endeavours to extend the experiences of the Education With/Out Borders Symposium, to continue the dialogues that arise from recognizing both traditional and divergent perspectives, to discover innovative ways of being educators as well as learners, and ultimately, to strengthen the community that the symposium creates. Each year the Education With/Out Borders Symposium celebrates increasing success (repeatedly selling out and now entering its fifth year). With the support of the Dean of Education, Dr. Paul Shaker, and the committed work of graduate students, the symposium and the launch of the SFU Ed Review represent and encourage community building and future collaboration.
The event to launch the new SFU Ed Review will take place: Date: March 21st
This is an opportunity for graduate students across the university, as well as Faculty and practitioners across the disciplines, to see for themselves the possibilities an initiative like this promises for the next generation of research and practice.
The event will be catered and each guest will be given two beverage tickets. Space at the event is limited. Please RSVP to Johanne Provencal at johanne_provencal@sfu.ca. |
