YOUR EDUCATION MATTERS TV PROGRAM PICKED UP BY SECOND TV CHANNEL

BC’s only TV program about education issues has just been picked up by a second broadcaster. Novus Entertainment will be broadcasting episodes of Your Education Matters twice a day to its niche audience of more than 22,000 viewers in False Creek North, Yaletown, Coal Harbour, Downtown, Crosstown, and parts of Burnaby.

“Several in our audience who had seen Your Education Matters elsewhere contacted us with a request to air this content,” said Matthew Grant, Producer, Novus Entertainment. “We saw Your Education Matters as an ideal fit for our audience as they have a lively interest in issues that affect them in their community as well as a desire to increase their awareness.”
The creation of the TV program was based on a recognized need to open space for dialogue and understanding between all stakeholders about education issues.

“Our program is meant to be a resource for viewers to actively participate in making their family’s education experience successful by considering what professional educators have to say,” explained Shaker. “The feedback we’ve received from teachers, parents, and other stakeholders about the TV program has been encouraging and I’m delighted to know that the Novus audience will be able to view the program as well. Outside of Your Education Matters, we rarely hear extended discussions of our professions—including education—by members of the respective fields.”

Hosted by Dr. Paul Shaker, Dean of Education at SFU, Your Education Matters provides insight and opinion on education issues that matter for parents, students, educators and policy makers alike. From decision-making about education options to accountability and diversity in our schools, Your Education Matters welcomes guests who explore the challenges and possible solutions for education issues.
