SFU students collected information about international teaching opportunities at the recent education fair.

International recruiters looking for SFU’s Education students to teach abroad.

Reflecting on a global outlook, Career Services and the Faculty of Education teamed up to launch a brand new initiative for Simon Fraser University’s Undergraduate and Professional Programs students. The Spring Education Fair, which took place on Saturday, April 12, 2008 focused on bringing together international recruiters with SFU Education students interested in opportunities to teach abroad.

The event was a big success. Over a dozen exhibitors representing teaching opportunities in the United Kingdom, Korea, China, Japan, Australia, and the United States were in the Education Building to meet with more than 100 SFU students.

“Feedback regarding this flagship event has been extremely positive from students and exhibitors alike, which is wonderful to hear,” said Christine Gilbert, Career Account Manager from SFU Career Services. “We’ve heard that the exhibitors were quite impressed with the caliber of students here.”

Throughout the day, Career Services Advisors as well as Peer Educators provided several students with resume consultations, a service that the department provides for many of their events.
