ICONWhat do we know about the river's water....Where does the water come from upstream? Where does it flow to downstream? How much water passes by your community in a day/week/year? How does the river's flow change during the year-when is the river in "flood"? When is the lowest flow?

Are there people in your community who study the water in the river or the life in it? Who are these people and what sorts of work do they do?

What do we know about the quality of the water in the river: is it: clean; polluted; acid; basic; soft; hard? What chemicals are in the river's water? Where do these chemicals come from? Are there people in your community who are responsible for testing the quality of the river water and for making sure it is clean or safe for drinking?

What sort of life is found living in the river's water? Does the river support fish, amphibians, insects, reptiles, mammals, birds.....? Who studies these creatures? How much is known about the river life in the community where you live?
