ICONIs there any evidence of how humans have changed the river in your area or community?....Have people built dams to control the river, to trap water, or for power? Have people changed the stream banks: built embankments, dikes, or channelled the stream between rock or cement walls? Do people drain run-off into the river? Where does this run off come from? What sorts of material does it contain and how might it change the river?

Have people tried to improve the river banks to make them better for human recreation or enjoyment--have these changes been good for the river water and for other life forms which live in or near the river? Have people changed the course or flow direction of the river? Why did they do this? Who owns the river's banks? How do people show their ownership? Have people tried to improve the river for fish and other water life? What changes have they made to do this?
