What is NBCR?

Networking BC Rivers is a project to enable schools and communities throughout BC to learn more about the watersheds of four major rivers in British Columbia: the Fraser, Peace, Skeena, and Columbia. The project includes different methods and areas of study from scientific data collection to language arts. This web site supports the learning and collaborations done through both traditional and new media.

Opportunities

We think the project will give students and teachers opportunities to create more detailed pictures of the river watersheds as they are now. We hope that the results will be shared among communities in the four watersheds. We also hope that the project will raise community awareness and understanding of the rivers as vital elements of our province's environment and economy. The project will enliven the study of social studies, science, math, language arts, and technology. We also intend the project to give students and teachers meaningful experiences in the use of computer telecommunications and information technologies. Finally, the project should be fun.
