This Fall 2012 MEd cohort program will be held in Whitehorse, Yukon Territories at Yukon College.
This Master of Education (MEd) degree in Educational Leadership is designed to meet the needs of practicing educators in the post-secondary or K-12 system (e.g. private, public, alternative schools).
- Grounded in research, theory, and practice
- Focuses on the study of leadership in various practical educational settings.
- Encourages students to view issues and problems they encounter in their workplace in deeper, more complex and educative ways.
- Relates scholarly and humanistic questions and concepts to professional knowledge of ethics, administrative processes, policy, and leadership.
- Recognizes diverse workplace contexts as well as gender and multicultural aspects.
The MEd is awarded to students who demonstrate:
- The systematic acquisition and interpretation of a significant body of knowledge necessary for advanced professional practice.
- A detailed understanding of applicable methods for research and advanced academic enquiry.
- The ability to conceptualize, design and implement a research program for the generation of new knowledge that will satisfy the highest standards of academic and professional review.
This program extends over six terms, beginning in Fall 2012 and concluding in Summer 2014. The Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership is awarded following the completion of a series of six courses and a culminating Comprehensive Examination.
