Curriculum & Instruction: Ecological Education MEd

This two year program is designed to address the broad range of philosophical, epistemological and social justice issues related to our conceptions of environmental and ecological education. This type of approach avoids the deadlock resulting from the conventional moral thinking based on right and wrong and allows individuals to consider multiple perspectives on an issue or
problem while allowing opportunities to rethink cultural and social norms or practices.

The program has been designed to appeal to a wide cross section of teachers, informal educators and educational leaders and it is our endeavour to include a balance from each of these areas in support of the program’s pedagogical goals.

Students must complete:

EDUC 811-5 Fieldwork I
EDUC 861-5 Study of Learning Environments
EDUC 830-5 Implementation of Educational Programs
EDUC 816-5 Development of Educational Programs
EDUC 823-5 Curriculum and Instruction in an Individual Teaching Specialty
EDUC 833-5 Seminar in Social and Moral Philosophy and Education
EDUC 857-5 Issues and Topics in Environmental Education
