This program will be held in Prince Rupert/Terrace, BC.
This program leads to the Master of Education (MEd) degree and is intended primarily for teachers and educators working in settings with significant numbers of Aboriginal/First Nations students (both K-12 and adult).
- Designed and offered in collaboration with northern Aboriginal educators, school districts, and communities.
- Grounded in research, theory, and practice stemming from the LUCID* research partnership, which aims at building imaginative, culturally inclusive approaches to teaching the mainstream curriculum.
- Focused on expanding repertoires of principles and strategies for engaging all students in learning.
- Provides a framework for collaborative, participatory action research that aims to benefit northern schools, districts, and the communities that they serve.
Throughout the program, there will be a consistent emphasis on the integration of theory and reflective inquiry with practice, and on connecting the academic curriculum with the imaginative worlds and lived experiences of students and communities.
