The Master of Education (MEd) in Health Education and Active Living focuses on an holistic, agentic, active living vision of health, vitality and wellbeing. It is designed for practicing educators who wish to integrate scholarly inquiry with their professional practice and particular interests.
Grounded in research, theory, and practice.
- Encourages students to view issues and problems in their workplace in deeper, more complex and educative ways.
- Relates scholarly and humanistic questions and concepts to professional knowledge of health education.
- Introduces participants to the philosophies, theoretical frameworks, principles and practices of health promotion that are in keeping with the attainment of embodied wellbring and the expression of vitality in active living.
- Focuses on the curricular and instructional understandings needed to design, implement and evaluate such health promotion programs in schools, community settings and other institutional contexts.
The MEd is awarded to students who demonstrate:
- The systematic acquisition and interpretation of a significant body of knowledge necessary for advanced professional practice.
- A detailed understanding of applicable methods for research and advanced academic enquiry.
- The ability to conceptualize, design and implement a research program for the generation of new knowledge that will satisfy the highest standards of academic and professional review.
