Dr. Diane Dagenais
My scholarship is situated in the field of applied linguistics and focuses specifically on the study of language education. I have developed an interest in issues of language learning in contexts of linguistic and cultural diversity as they relate to immigration, bilingualism, multilingualism, multiliteracies, second language learning and bilingual (immersion) education. I have pursued three lines of work over the years: 1) Children's multilingual and multimodal literacy practices at home, school and in the community; 2) representations of multilingualism and language education constructed by young children, adolescents, their teachers and parents; 3) educational change processes and innovations in language teaching.
