Our Mandate

The Centre for Educational Technology (CET) is an integral part of the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University.  The CET provides an open and supportive environment designed to encourage the evaluation and use of educational technologies to enhance learning and teaching for all members of our Faculty.  We offer instructional training and support in the use of traditional and emerging technologies specifically as they relate to educational issues.  The CET also provides a broad range of consulting services and technical support for both local and international initiatives within the Faculty of Education.

People

The CET is home to a team of staff with a wide variety of expertise whom assist in the daily operational/instructional support functions, as well as on a project consultancy basis, for the Faculty of Education.

Systems Consultant

As the CET Systems Consultant and Manager, Howard is largely responsible for strategy, complex network and system tasks, administrative tasks and day-to-day management. He also coordinates the advisory committee meetings, directs ongoing CET projects and aids in staff development.

Carson Au
Web Coordinator

Most of Carson’s tasks are web-oriented. He manages CET web servers, coordinates development, updates faculty sites, and monitors back-up severs for the Faculty of Education. Carson also provides workshops and training for staff, faculty, and students.

Brian Lee
Technician

Along with providing technical support to staff, faculty and students, Brian assists in laboratory and server administration. He also conducts workshops and training sessions for new technologies and systems. Brian also assists faculty and staff in selecting and purchasing new software and hardware.

Jeremy Bee
Database Administrator

Jeremy develops and maintains Faculty of Education FileMaker databases. In addition, he also provides software/hardware support and fixes computer and software problems.

Linda
Linda Hof
Television Resources

Linda produces television content both on campus, and in schools to support the instructional, conference, and research programs of the Faculty of Education.  She instructs on the use of television resources in individual and group seminars.  She is responsible for the acquisition of pre-recorded programs (in conjunction with SFU Library). Linda also facilitates the use of video conferencing as an instructional tool.

Debbie Wilson
Secretary

 

 

 

Aside from being the contact person for equipment/video loans, and office supplies, Debbie also processes requests for room bookings and cash sales. Additionally, she conducts tours of the CET for new students/faculty members by demonstrating proper use of equipment.

Facilities Clerk

Rosie handles the budgeting aspect of the CET, as well as for the Faculty. She processes requests for technology equipment and CET inventory orders.

 

 

 

Student temps provide additonal support on the front counter in the CET as well as being a team member in the CET operations.
