Developing cross-cultural sensitivity/competency in a global village
We develop and deliver global educational experiences. We collaborate with universities and governments from around the world, providing educational opportunities at all levels of post-secondary studies for domestic and international students. Through these opportunities, students are able to gain valuable academic and cultural insight, knowledge and skills for success in our global community.
In the News
Dr. Roumi Ilieva, an instructor in the MEd International TEF/SL program, and two alumni of the program, Aojun Li (from cohort 1) and Wanjun Li (from cohort 2), presented at the 16th World Congress of Applied Linguistics, AILA 2011, held in Beijing, China between August 23 and August 28, 2011. The World Congress is held every three years in different parts of the world and is the most prestigious scholary meeting of applied linguists from around the globe. The presentation is entitled "Negotiating TESOL discourses and EFL teaching contexts in China: Exploring the professional identities and practices of a TESOL program graduates" and discusses some of the complexities around the material effects of the TEF/SL program on some graduates shared in interviews Roumi conducted with 9 alumni from cohorts 1 and 2 who teach in China.
